Philipa Jackson

Clinical Hypnotherapist

Meet Philipa

Clinical hypnotherapist

I came to hypnosis when pregnant with my second child. A neighbour had done a hypnobirthing course and recommended it to me. It was a real game changer, I felt in control, excited, confident and completely relaxed about giving birth. When it came to the actual day I felt exactly the same and had the most empowering, pain free labour and birth, I just allowed my body to do what it needed to do.

It was such a positive experience that I can be quite evangelical about hypnobirthing!

That was over 10 years ago now.

I have also successfully used hypnotherapy for other issues in my life including anxiety. Having this first hand experience I understand the impact this can have over our day to day lives.

Knowing that hypnosis worked for me, I trained in Clinical Hypnotherapy on a practitioner course accredited by the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council and General Hypnotherapy Register, the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council and the National Hypnotherapy Society. I then, quite naturally, trained as a Mindful Hypnobirthing Practitioner with Sophie Fletcher, co creator of Mindful Mamma, the Mindful Hypnobirthing course, I also have a diploma in NLP.

I now have extensive experience helping adults, young people and couples with a wide range of issues from anxiety, self confidence, stress and pain management to weight loss, unwanted habits, anger, negative thought patterns and Hypnobirthing of course. Some clients also like to come for monthly wellbeing check ins.

I have a particular interest in Hypnosis for fertility and have enjoyed lots of success in this area. Treatment is based on The Fertile Body Method.

Please see my hypnotherapy for fertility page for further info.

Everyone is unique and sessions are tailored individually to suit each client’s needs. With a background of teaching I am very personable and a great listener and the sessions are a space where clients can relax and talk freely and openly without judgment.

The variety that hypnotherapy offers and the different challenges it brings up is something that I really enjoy.

I love how hypnosis can help people, quite quickly, overcome challenges and make positive changes in their lives.

Why Naturopathy

Why Hypnotherapy?

It can help with

IBS

Hypnosis has found to be an effective treatment for irritable bowel syndrome in a number of clinical studies. Deep relaxation, soothing imagery and sensations focussed on the individual's symptoms can see an improvement in overall well-being, quality of life, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, constipation and bloating, among others. Hypnotherapy can offer symptomatic, psychological and physiological benefit to sufferers of IBS.

Anxiety

Hypnotherapy for anxiety will reduce feelings of fear and worry but can also help boost feelings of confidence and self belief. You will learn techniques to be able to access a calm state and enable you to feel in control again, able to overcome the often overwhelming feelings and emotions that come with anxiety.

Fertility

Hypnosis for unexplained fertility issues or IVF allows you to feel in control and can enhance receptivity. Hypnosis can calm fears and become a safe haven that can renew and revitalise during what can be a very stressful and emotional time. It creates a strong mind/body relationship.

Hypnosis can help to heal past and present experiences.

It supports medical treatment, holistic care and natural conception.

Research shows that using hypnosis for fertility can effectively double the chances of natural conception and IVF rates.

Weight loss

Hypnosis for weight loss works differently to all those diets that you've inevitably tried. It helps to change your relationship with food, creates healthy habits and gives you the motivation to exercise and stick with it.

Research has shown that those using hypnosis for weight loss are more likely to keep the weight off and continue with the healthy habits learned.

Hypnosis for ...

If you're unsure if hypnotherapy  can help you, here's a list of other issues that can be treated with hypnosis...

-Stress
-Panic attacks
-Fears and phobias
-Insomnia
-Grief

-Anger management
-Negative thought patterns
-Pain management
-Confidence
-Unwanted habits
-Motivation

-Smoking cessation

-Obsessive compulsive disorder
...and much more.

You don’t need to have any of the above issues to give it a try.

Hypnosis is also great for deep relaxation!

Hypnobirthing

Research in this area has shown that using hypnobirthing can reduce the length of time spent in labour, allows you to feel calm and in control enough not to need pain relief and lowers the possibility of any intervention. It can also shorten the length of time needed to stay in hospital and reduce the chance of you getting postnatal depression.

Having a baby is an exciting time but it's common to feel nervous or apprehensive about the birth.

Practising hypnobirthing will enable you to look forward to the birth of your baby with calm excitement and allows you to trust in your body's ability to birth your baby.

Testimonials

“I was recommended by a friend to see Philipa. I went with anxiety and a fast heart rate. I had three sessions with her and felt so much better and took away coping techniques to help me. Philipa has a really calming persona and I felt totally at ease with her and would not hesitate to recommend Philipa or go to see her again."
